The men brought in the first round of art yesterday to start setting up and we can’t wait to see what the space looks like with the full installation, and to learn about success, and how to win at everything.

We apologize for not being open tonight for the NELA art walk, but we will be open again soon. To see the These Friends show please make an appointment by emailing this@thislosangeles.com. There is still a ton of art left.
Hello friends,
We have some very unfortunate and sad news and we need your help to solve it. Last night towards the end of our These Friends opening (after the crowds had left and we were cleaning up) someone stole a piece off the wall and bolted out the front door. It was Jason Lee’s one of a kind 8×10 Polaroid of the late Dennis Hopper. The artist is putting up a $25,000 dollar reward to anyone who brings it back to us. This is a very sentimental one of a kind piece for obvious reasons. The thief can come forward anonymously and charges won’t be pressed against him. Please get the word out and help us get Jason’s art back. You can call us 323-747-5301 or email this@thislosangeles.com with any information. Thanks.
Also, the piece can be anonymously mailed back to THIS los angeles, 5906 N. Figueroa St. LA, CA 90042
P.S. This piece was not for sale, it’s extremely sentimental to Jason and he just wanted to share it with the art community by having it in the show.
Eddy Sykes is a man of many fascinations. THIS met up with Eddy at his studio in the Frog Town section of LA, where he melds architecture, sculpture, assembly, industrial design and whimsy to craft complex kinetic chandeliers that are as beautiful as they are inspiring. Some of his past projects include house plants and ashtrays carved out of bowling balls, sculptures built entirely from ostrich eggshells, a kinetic bacon and eggs… you get the drift.
This is one of my favorite photos of our good friend and photographer Noe Montes. He’s been selected as one of the artists in the Border Art Biennial – Bienal Fronteriza de Arte 2010 at the El Paso Museum of Art which is opening Fri. Nov. 19th
The show runs November 20, 2010 – February 13, 2011
